Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast is undoubtedly one of Australia’s most beautiful regions with amazing beaches, stunning sunlight, picturesque hinterland and plenty of breathtaking views. The vast area, which extends along the golden Pacific coast for nearly 60 kilometres, offers a wonderful and immense mix of cultures, cuisine, nature and outdoor activities that are all ready to be explored.

The Region

The name says it all: The Sunshine Coast is blessed with fantastic climate and golden beaches. This peri-urban area covers the region from Caloundra, with its seaside-town atmosphere in the south, to cool and fashionable Noosa in the north, and from the beaches shaped by the Pacific Ocean in the east, to far into the rural English-like idyll beyond the Blackall Range in the west. The beautiful national parks, both on the coast and in the hinterland, are definitely worthwhile exploring, while spending an evening sitting on the beach watching the sunset is a must. If you can drag yourself away from the coastal area, the hinterland also promises a wealth of unique experiences in nature.

Do & See

The coast and its cities are always full of life, especially in the summer months. There is no end to the activities that take place all along the coast. You’ll never lack for new sports, culinary concoctions, nature or shopping experiences to discover. Visit the stunning natural parks and admire native wildlife, try a new sport or outdoor activity, or simply relax on a golden beach and soak up the sun.

Dining

Throughout the coast, you can discover lots of different dining experiences, from the traditional cooking of the hinterland to new style cuisine with inspiration from all over the world. What’s more, the climate is perfect for alfresco meals at all times of the day. Restaurant hubs are Hastings St. in Noosa, Thomas St. in Noosaville, Sunshine Beach, the Plaza Food Court in Maroochydore and Mooloolaba’s Wharf and Esplanade.

Cafes

The pace is a little bit slower and people are a little bit happier here at the Sunshine Coast. Not only because of the sun and the warmth, but because of the outstanding social culture. A big part of that is thanks to the many comfortable places where you can sit down and discuss the ups and downs of life over a hot cup of coffee and a light snack.

Bars & Nightlife

The Sunshine Coast is alive and kicking at night with most of its nightlife happening in the Noosa area. Neighbouring cities also have vibrant clubs to dance away the night. Be aware that there is often a cover charge. Whether you’re looking for an afternoon appetizer, an after-dinner top-off or a pre-clubbing starter, the bars on the Sunshine Coast are varied and numerous.

Shopping

The Sunshine Coast offers a bit of everything when it comes to shopping. You will find a variety of artisan and farmers markets, cutting-edge fashion boutiques and air-conditioned plaza shopping. There are also many streets lined with stores, such as Mooloolaba's Esplanade or Noosa's Hastings Street, that are well worth a stroll.
